Understanding the natural components of Rosa damascena is essential to understanding what real rose water truly is.
Many people believe that the most valuable part of the rose is its essential oil.
This perception is largely due to the fact that rose essential oil is one of the most valuable and expensive essential oils in the world. Thousands of kilograms of freshly harvested rose petals are required to produce only a small amount of oil, making it one of the most prized ingredients in perfumery and natural cosmetics.
From a scientific perspective, however, Rosa damascena is much more than its essential oil.
The rose naturally contains hundreds of different aromatic compounds. During steam distillation, these compounds separate into two distinct phases: some remain in the oil phase, while others dissolve into the water phase.
This is where the true value of genuine rose distillate begins.
A Rose Is Not a Single Compound
Research has identified more than 300 natural compounds in the essential oil of Rosa damascena. Some of the best-known include:
Citronellol
Geraniol
Nerol
Farnesol
Eugenol
Damascenone
Linalool
Phenethyl Alcohol...
For centuries, people have cherished the fragrance of roses not only for their beauty but also for the sense of calm and well-being they inspire. Across many cultures, the scent of Rosa damascena has been part of daily rituals, meditation, self-care, and aromatherapy.
Today, modern science is beginning to explore what generations have intuitively appreciated.
A remarkable study published in Brain Research Bulletin in 2024 investigated whether continuous inhalation of Rosa damascena essential oil could influence the structure of the human brain. Using Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), researchers examined how regular exposure to rose essential oil affected healthy adults over one month.
The findings offer an exciting new perspective on the relationship between natural aromas and the brain.
The Brain Is More Adaptable Than We Once Thought
The human brain is constantly adapting to new experiences—a phenomenon known as neuroplasticity.
Research has shown that activities such as learning, physical exercise, meditation, and adequate sleep can be associated with measurable changes in certain brain regions.
This has led scientists to ask an intriguing question:
Could our sense of s...
Akita Non-Deoiled Rose Water: Why Our Rose Distillate Is Different
A New Perspective on Rose Water
For centuries, rose water has been one of nature's most cherished beauty and wellness ingredients. Traditionally produced through the distillation of Rosa Damascena petals, it has been used in skincare, personal care, culinary traditions, and daily self-care rituals across many cultures.
At Akita, our journey with roses led us to discover something unique.
What began as a quest to preserve more of the natural essence of the rose resulted in a product that differs significantly from conventional rose waters. Through years of research, development, and innovation, our production process created a rose distillate with characteristics unlike those typically found in the market.
More Than Traditional Rose Water
Most commercial rose waters are produced as a by-product of rose oil extraction. During this process, many of the aromatic and naturally occurring components of the rose are removed together with the essential oil.
Akita took a different approach.
Our proprietary Non-Deoiled Rose Water technology was designed to preserve as much of the natural character of Rosa Damascena as...
Most products on the market are called "rose water."
But Akita Rose Water is not the same.
Akita Organic Unseparated Rose Water goes beyond the traditional definition of rose water. Produced from organic Rosa Damascena roses using Akita's proprietary distillation process, it preserves the valuable aromatic compounds and naturally occurring microelements found in the rose.
While conventional rose waters are often a by-product of essential oil production, Akita's unique approach focuses on retaining the rose's natural richness within the distillate itself.
That is why Akita's product is more accurately described as a Rose Distillate (Rosa Damascena Flower Distillate) rather than a conventional rose water.
What Makes Akita Rose Distillate Different?
🌹 Produced from Organic Rosa Damascena Roses Harvested from Akita's organic rose gardens in the Lakes Region of Türkiye, where the unique climate and fertile soil contribute to the exceptional quality of the roses.
💧 Contains Only Roses and Water No additives, preservatives, alcohol, or artificial fragrances. Pure and simple.

Can the Value of Rose Oil and the Elegance of Rose Water Exist Together?
Rose water has been one of the world's most trusted natural skincare ingredients for centuries. Used across cultures for beauty, wellness, and personal care, it remains a staple in modern skincare routines.
Today, however, consumers are asking new questions:
What is Non-Deoiled Rose Water?
Can the valuable aromatic compounds associated with rose oil also be present within a rose distillate?
Why is Akita's Non-Deoiled Rose Water different from traditional rose water?
The answers begin with understanding the science of rose distillation.
Why Is Rose Oil So Valuable?
Rosa Damascena, often known as the Damask Rose, is one of the most prized aromatic plants in the world.
Scientific research has identified several key aromatic compounds that contribute to the characteristic profile of rose oil, including:
Citronellol
Geraniol
Nerol
Farnesol
Linalool
Phenethyl Alcohol
These naturally occurring aromatic molecules help create the distinctive scent and identity of the rose.
For centuries, rose oil has been valued by the fragrance, cosmetic, and wellness industries because o...
Is Rose Oil Really 320 MHz? What New Scientific Research Reveals
Beyond the 320 MHz Claim: A New Perspective on the RF Fingerprint of Rosa damascena Flower Distillate
For many years, one statement has been widely shared across aromatherapy and natural wellness communities:
"Rose vibrates at 320 MHz."
This claim has become one of the most frequently repeated facts about Rosa damascena, often presented as evidence of the flower's unique energetic properties.
But where did this number come from? Does it apply to all rose-based products, including rose water? And what happens when modern radio-frequency (RF) analysis is used to investigate this long-standing claim?
A recent exploratory study offers a different perspective. Rather than identifying a single dominant frequency, researchers observed that a non-de-oiled Rosa damascena flower distillate exhibited a reproducible multi-band RF fingerprint across a broad frequency range.
Where Did the 320 MHz Claim Originate?
An important distinction is often overlooked.
Historically, the widely quoted 320 MHz value has generally been associated with Rosa Damascena Flower Oil—the essential oil obtained during steam distillation...
