Have you ever walked through a blooming rose garden at sunrise?
If not, this might be the perfect year to do it.
In Isparta, Turkey’s rose capital, the annual rose season isn’t just a sightseeing opportunity—it’s a deep, sensory journey into nature, tradition, and beauty.
At Akita, we’ve spent years building the experience from the ground up so that visitors from around the world can share in it.
Long before tourism developed in Isparta, we founded one of the region’s very first travel agencies.
For 16 years, we provided ticketing services, and for 12 years, we were the only travel agency in the area—also serving as a general sales partner for Turkish Airlines.
When we first imagined rose garden tours, tourism in Turkey was focused almost entirely on the coast.
But we believed the natural richness of Isparta—the roses, the herbs, the hills—deserved to be shared.
We brought in groups of aromatherapists from the Netherlands, introducing them to not only the rose gardens but also the region’s rich variety of wild, medicinal plants.
To them, Isparta was a botanical paradise—and to us, it still is.
While the Damask rose is Isparta’s icon, the land holds much more.
At the edges of our rose fields, you’ll find wild-growing herbs like St. John’s Wort, thyme, immortelle, sage, wild clover, and pine herb.
This area is a treasure trove of biodiversity, filled with natural aromas and centuries of herbal wisdom.
So when you visit Isparta, you’re not just walking through a rose field—
You’re stepping into an ecosystem that’s alive with tradition and healing potential.
Isparta’s roses bloom only once a year—for about one month between mid-May and mid-June.
They must be hand-harvested early in the morning before the sun warms the petals and evaporates their precious oil.
This is why rose tours start just after sunrise, when the air is cool and the fragrance is at its peak.
On some days, the roses bloom so quickly that harvesting continues all day long.
Even then, the scent lingers in the air—and even in the workers’ clothes.
Even sweat smells like roses. Really.
In recent years, rose tours have become part of many travel itineraries in Turkey.
Each season, more and more people want to experience the quiet joy of rose harvesting.
If you’ve never walked through a blooming field, watched early-morning pickers at work, or smelled roses fresh from the stem...
This is your moment.
Just keep in mind: rose season ends before school does.
But don’t worry—lavender season follows closely and offers another breathtaking experience in purple.
Living in Isparta is a privilege.
But experiencing it with full awareness—seeing, smelling, and feeling its seasonal rhythm—is something truly special.
The rose season may be brief, but the memories will stay with you.
So if you’re planning a trip to Turkey and you're able to travel in May or June, come and see the very gardens where we produce Akita Rose Water.
From mid-May to mid-June, Isparta welcomes rose lovers from around the world.
